Let’s talk about Music Listening in Early Childhood
In this session, findings from the Tune into Listening action research will be shared and discussed. The research explored auditory environments in kindergarten spaces, ‘how’ children listen and the role of the adult in supporting and nurturing active music listening. An overview of the research and findings will be shared along with video examples of active music listening in early childhood.

About: Nicola is an author, strategic leader, researcher and consultant based in England. She is passionate about helping people to create meaningful musical experiences for young children. Nicola works with Early Childhood Settings, Arts & Music organizations, Music Services, Musicians, Colleges, Universities, Local Authorities and Government Bodies. She created the award-winning Tune into Listening free online resource and in 2018, she wrote Musical Development Matters in the Early Years, a free downloadable resource to complement Early Childhood Education guidance material. Nicola works nationally and internationally to strategically support organizations to develop their Early Childhood music programs and initiatives.
